Dress Size Guide: How to Measure Yourself and Choose Your Size

Almond Chic

To choose the right dress size, measure your bust, waist and hips and compare them with the size chart on the product page. Sizes vary between styles, so always check the chart for the exact dress you want. This guide shows how to measure yourself, how to read a size chart and what to do if you are between sizes. For help choosing a cut, read our guide to choosing a dress for your body shape.

What do you need to measure yourself?

You only need a soft tape measure, a pen and paper, and light clothing. Stand naturally, relax your shoulders and breathe normally. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and make sure it stays level around your body.

How to measure your bust, waist and hips

Measurement Where to measure Tip
Bust Around the fullest part of your chest Keep the tape level across your back
Waist Around the narrowest part of your waist, above the navel Bend to the side to find your natural waistline
Hips Around the fullest part of your hips and seat Stand with your feet together
Height From the top of your head to the floor Stand straight against a wall without shoes

How to choose your size from the size chart

  1. Write down your measurements. Measure twice to be sure.
  2. Open the size chart. Each product page has its own chart, and our general size guide is also available.
  3. Find your size for each measurement. Compare your bust, waist and hips with the chart.
  4. Check the fit description. The product page says if the dress is fitted, relaxed or loose.
  5. Check the fabric. Stretchy fabrics such as knit are more forgiving than woven fabrics such as satin or linen.

What if you are between two sizes?

Think about how you want the dress to fit. For a fitted or structured dress, the larger size is usually more comfortable. For a loose or relaxed dress, you can choose the smaller size. If you are still unsure, check the fabric and the fit description, or write to info@almondchic.com and we will help you choose.

Which sizes are available?

Sizes range from XS to 5XL depending on the style. Browse our dresses and our plus size collection, and check the chart for each product.

Tips for choosing a dress size online

  • Measure yourself instead of using the size you wear in other shops, as sizes differ between brands.
  • Check the length on the product page, especially for midi and maxi dresses, as the exact length depends on your height.
  • Think about what you will wear under the dress, such as a specific bra or shapewear.
  • Read our refund policy before you order, so you know your options.
